Privacy Policy
Effective October 28, 2026
SetMyTV is an IPTV player for Android TV and Fire TV with a web manager at app.setmytv.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we never collect. We wrote it to be read, not skimmed past.
The short version: your IPTV login never leaves your TV, we never store or sell what you watch, we don't sell your data, and you can delete your account at any time.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address and password. The password is stored only as a salted, one-way hash, so we can't read it.
- People you invite: when you invite someone to a home, we keep their email address and the role you chose, and email them the invite link. Everyone in a home can see the email addresses of the other people in it.
- Your homes and TVs: the names you give your homes and TVs, who belongs to each home and their role, when each TV last checked in, and the settings you choose for each TV (such as Parent mode).
- Your channel list and lineup: after you sign in to your IPTV service on a TV, the TV sends us the list of channels it offers (channel names, groups, logo addresses and guide IDs) so you can arrange the lineup from your phone. We store the lineup you build: which channels, their order and your favorites. The TV also sends the names of the channels in your IPTV service's guide (never the guide's address), so you can match channels to the right guide listings.
- Security and technical data: IP addresses and request logs, used to keep accounts safe (for example, limiting repeated password guesses) and to fix problems. These records are short-lived.
- Your town, if you turn on My Town: the town name and its approximate map location (rounded to about 1 km), plus your choice of units, so the TVs in that home can show local weather. If you use Use my location, your browser shares your location once to find your town; we keep only the rounded location, never your exact one.
- What's on, for the guide on your phone: about every 30 minutes, each TV sends the shows on now and next on its channels (titles, times, and the show pictures and short descriptions from your IPTV service's guide), so you can see what's on from your phone. We keep only the latest copy for each TV, and delete it when the TV is unlinked. It's the guide's schedule, not anything about what you watched.
- What each TV is on, only if your home allows it: while a TV is on, it tells SetMyTV which channel is on screen, so the people in your home can see it on the What's on page and change it from their phone. It's passed along live and never saved: there's no history, and it's gone as soon as the TV goes off. Turn it off any time under What's on → Show what each TV is on, and the TVs stop sending it.
- Recordings, if you record shows: a TV that records sends us a short summary so you can see and change it from your phone and your other TVs: the titles, channels and times of what's scheduled and what it has recorded, the name of the drive it records to (for a network drive, its address on your home network and folder, never its password) and how much space is free. We keep only the latest summary for each TV, and delete it when the TV stops recording or is unlinked. The recordings themselves stay on your drive and never pass through SetMyTV.
- Your IPTV services' names: if a TV has more than one IPTV service, the names you give them (like Backup) come with the channel list, so you can tell the channels apart. The logins stay on the TV.
- Multiview choices and favorites: the channels and number of boxes you pick for each TV, and your home's favorite channels.
- Connection check results, when you run one: internet speed, whether your IPTV service answered and how fast, Wi-Fi signal strength, and how often the channel froze. Only these numbers, never your IPTV login or the addresses of what you watch.
- Purchases made through Amazon: if you buy a plan on a Fire TV through the Amazon Appstore, the app gives us the Amazon customer ID and receipt ID that Amazon issues for that purchase. We keep them with your home, along with the plan and its renewal date, and check them with Amazon when you buy and again around each renewal so your plan stays up to date. Amazon handles the payment itself; we never see your Amazon payment details.
- Messages you send us, if you email support.
- A record that an account was deleted: when an account is deleted we keep one line with no email, name or account attached: the day it signed up, how many days it was used, how many homes and TVs it had, whether a TV had received a channel list, whether it had a paid plan, and, if you choose to tell us when you delete your account, why you left and any note you add. It helps us understand why people leave, and can't be traced back to you.
What we never collect
- Your IPTV login. The server address, username and password for your IPTV service are stored only on your TV, encrypted with a key held by the TV's secure hardware storage. If you type them on our website instead of the TV, your browser locks them with a key that only that TV has before anything is sent; we pass the locked package to the TV and delete it, and we can't open it.
- What you watch. Video goes straight from your IPTV service to your TV. It never passes through SetMyTV, and we don't record which channels you watch or when. If your home shows what each TV is on, that is passed along live to your home's own people and never stored.
- Your recordings. Shows you record go from your IPTV service straight to your own USB or network drive. They're never uploaded, and we can't see or play them.
- Payment card details. Card payments on the web are handled by Stripe, and purchases on a Fire TV by Amazon. We never see or store your card number or other payment details: Stripe and Amazon tell us only whether a payment worked, which plan you have and when it renews.
Cookies and analytics
The web manager uses one cookie, which keeps you signed in. It is required for the service to work, and it isn't used for advertising or tracking.
On setmytv.com we count page visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies and doesn't follow you across other sites. We host our own fonts, and we don't use advertising or social-media trackers.
How we use your information
We use it only to run SetMyTV: to sign you in, link your TVs, keep their lineups in sync, keep the service secure, and answer you when you contact us. We may send you emails about your account or important changes to the service. We don't send marketing email without your permission.
A small number of SetMyTV staff can see account details (your email, your homes and their plans, the names of your TVs, when they were last on, and connection check results) so we can help when something goes wrong and look after billing. Staff can't see passwords, and your IPTV login never reaches us.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising.
We use a small number of service providers to run SetMyTV, and they process data only on our behalf: Cloudflare hosts our website, servers and database and sends our account emails (like password resets and invites), Stripe processes card payments on the web, Amazon processes purchases made through the Amazon Appstore and confirms them to us, and Google provides our support email.
For My Town, our servers look up weather from the US National Weather Service using your town's rounded location, and turn a ZIP code or city you type into a location using Zippopotam.us. None of these requests include your name, email or anything else that identifies you.
We will disclose information if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid court order, and we may do so to protect the safety of our users or the security of the service.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as you have an account. Security logs and sign-in attempt records are kept only for a short time. When you delete your account, your information is removed from our live systems right away and from backups within 30 days.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time: sign in at app.setmytv.com, open Account, and choose Delete my account. You can also email us at support@setmytv.com and we'll do it for you.
Deleting your account removes your sign-in, your membership in every home, and every home where you are the only owner, together with its TVs, lineup and channel list. TVs in those homes are disconnected and forget their link and their IPTV login.
If one of those homes has a plan bought on the web, it's cancelled right away so you aren't charged again. A plan bought on a Fire TV through Amazon is billed by Amazon, and we can't cancel it for you: cancel it in your Amazon account (Your Memberships & Subscriptions), before or after you delete your SetMyTV account.
Your choices and rights
You can see and change your homes, TVs and lineups in the web manager at any time. You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing support@setmytv.com. Depending on where you live (for example California, other US states with privacy laws, or the EU and UK), you may have additional rights, and we will honor them. We won't treat you differently for using them.
Children
SetMyTV is for adults 18 and older. It isn't intended for children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We protect your information with encrypted connections (HTTPS) everywhere, hashed passwords, revocable sign-in and TV tokens, and strict separation so nobody can see another household's homes, TVs or lineups. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours safe and will tell you promptly if a breach affects you.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll let you know by email or in the app before it takes effect.
