- What do I need to use SetMyTV?
- An Android TV, Google TV or Fire TV device, plus a subscription from an IPTV provider: either an Xtream Codes login (server, username and password) or an M3U playlist link.
- Does SetMyTV come with channels?
- No. SetMyTV is an IPTV player only. It doesn't sell, include or host any channels. You bring your own IPTV service, and you're responsible for having the rights to what you watch.
- Can I change the channel from my phone?
- Yes. Open your home at app.setmytv.com and tap Open the guide. You see what's on now and next on every channel; tap a show and send it to any TV in the house, from anywhere. It works on iPhone and Android, and you can add it to your home screen like an app.
- Which devices does it work on?
- Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV devices. You manage it from any phone or computer with a web browser.
- Can you see their provider login?
- No. It's stored only on the TV. Even when you type it on your phone, your phone locks it with a key only that TV has, so SetMyTV just passes along a package it can't open. Our servers hold the lineup and your account, nothing else.
- How much does it cost?
- The first month is free, with everything included and no card needed. After that it's $1.99 a month or $14.99 a year per home, and that covers every TV in the home. Cancel any time from your phone.
- Can I set it up for my parents?
- That's what it's made for. Set up their TV once, pick their favorite channels from your phone, and turn on Parent mode so it stays simple. You can change their lineup any time without being there.
- Does it record or do catch-up?
- Both. Catch-up works when your IPTV service offers it: shows from the last few days light up in the guide and play from the start. And SetMyTV records shows to your own USB drive or a drive on your home network, never the cloud: one show or the whole series, from the TV guide or your phone.
- Can they watch more than one channel at once?
- Yes. Multiview shows 2, 3 or 4 channels on one screen. Each box uses one stream from your IPTV service, so the number you can watch at once depends on your plan and on the TV device. SetMyTV checks what each TV's video chip can handle and only offers that many boxes. Plenty of inexpensive sticks, like a $29 Google TV stick, run all four.
- Can it play my own videos?
- Yes. My videos plays movies and shows stored on a computer, NAS drive or DLNA media server in your home, and remembers where you stopped. The drive and the TV just need to be on the same home network. Nothing is uploaded to SetMyTV.
- Where does the My Town weather come from?
- From the US National Weather Service, refreshed every few minutes. You pick the town by ZIP code, city or your phone's location, and we keep only an approximate location (about 1 km). My Town covers the United States.
- What if they get a new TV?
- Install SetMyTV, scan the code, and pick their household. The new TV picks up the same lineup automatically.
